LinkedIn Ads: When and Where?

First of all: let’s start from the base. Before investing time, resources and money on LinkedIn, just ask yourselves: is it the right network for my needs?
The good practices already recommended about other social networks still remain valid of course:

  1. A detailed organic presence meeting the needs of potential customers
  2. Getting to know your target customers and setting clear and well-thought-out goals
  3. Monitoring, Analysing, Testing
  4. Be patient and get down to work!

Everything ok? So pack your bags and get ready to start your LinkedIn trip!

Numbers and Memories

Founded back in 2002 by Reid Hoffman and another five people among his friends and former colleagues, LinkedIn was launched officially on May 05th 2003.
In 2004 one million users had a profile on it but, in spite of the good growth potential, this achievement was not considered enough by investors.
In 2006 LinkedIn skyrocketed the social network charts thanks to paid functions which revealed themselves very useful to businesses in order to flush out professionals, and in 2007 it eventually reached the goal of 10 million users registered on it.

Profiling

Aside from the personal identity sphere, geolocation included, LinkedIn offers targets based on the kind of job, sector and/or brand name your potential customers are working in, with knowledge, expertise, interests and groups as well.
If your wish is to know more about users interested in your company, just add the LinkedIn Insight Tag to your website. It is a monitoring and profiling tool which happens to be more reliable than most of the third-party analysis tools, because it matches specific visitors to its information database by being based on the data collected. The result is a higher and more detailed precision at profiling users.

Open-Minded and Suitable Attitude

LinkedIn users benefit from a larger concentration of contents in their feed because this platform works on information obtained from the latest news of the working sector of interest, in order to strengthen its professional network and so on. This is different from other social networks, where users are kind of forced to scroll through their feed for long while maybe thinking of something else.
For this reason LinkedIn cannot be considered passively and, as a consequence of that, the focus on it is higher than on other social networks.

How Much Is It To Create a Campaign on LinkedIn?

The minimum expense rate per day is € 10.00, regardless of goals and strategies. It is true that this does not make LinkedIn the cheapest digital platform on Earth, but LinkedIn Ads are extremely effective (if powered by the four steps mentioned at the beginning of this column... it goes without saying).
The CPM rate (Cost Per Mille, i.e. Cost per A Thousand Impressions) is around € 30.00. The CPC rate (Cost per Click) can vary from € 2.00 to € 5.00 instead.
The CPM rate leads you to understand how large your audience is, according to the settings chosen. The CPC rate gives you information about your ad instead.
A lot of users do take a step backward here… but you must take into consideration that, being the ads more effective, the CPA rate (Cost Per Action) could be lower than expected!
